2024-25 AHEC Schweitzer Fellow and WSSU Occupational Therapy student Cristina Sorensen was interviewed on WXii12 News on November 22 to talk about the Schweitzer project she and her Schweitzer partner and WSSU Nursing student Stefanie Ramsey are leading.
When caring for babies and toddlers, there’s a lot of lifting, carrying, bending and twisting which can lead to neck and back pain when not done properly. As AHEC Schweitzer Fellows, they are helping moms and caregivers in east Winston-Salem learn the proper positioning for these parenting tasks to avoid strain and injury. Their Fellowship is sponsored by the North Carolina Area Health Education Center.
